The official opening of my new solo exhibition "Change Your Perspective" will be on Tuesday May 16th at 6 pm but before that day, the National Art Gallery of Namibia in Windhoek will be open to the public from 9th of May until 10th of June.
Please share this information, either by displaying the exhibition poster in your office or, sharing its web version via email and follow us on social media.
As I am writing this, Xanita who has sponsored 50% of the printing of the artwork on their recycled boards is still busy printing the last super jumbo prints that Lisa will take on Sunday morning on an InterCape coach from Cape Town to Windhoek, while I will driving up North to meet her in Windhoek on Monday morning to set-up the exhibition. The bus option came up as one of the best affordable options to transport the 150kg-crates sponsored by Rebul. I can tell you that finding the ideal way of transport was a real challenge!
Anyway, the best part of this whole adventure was building a 3D scaled model of the galleries in the garage with my children Enya and James. In fact, it was Enya's idea and it turned out to be extremely practical for arranging the artwork across the 3 galleries. Check out the end result video for some good laugh...
The foyer and upper gallery will be dedicated to the Utopia Collection of photographs, while the lower gallery will share some inspiring sustainability stories from the tourism sector, and serves as the launching platform for the Ticket2Utopia project.
Hon. Minister Pohamba Shifeta (Environment & Tourism) and well-know Namibian artist, Papa Shikongeni will give the opening address. Then I will guide my guests through my surreal interpretation of Namibia's remarkable landscapes... and maybe, with the help of a glass of wine from Delheim or a Namibian premium beer from NamBrew, you too, will change your perspective and let your imagination fly to Utopia...
I look forward to seeing you there!
