If you want to learn how to take incredible photographs by connecting with your subject, then you will definitely enjoy Paul Godard's photographic workshops.
Paul organizes inspirational photographic safaris in Southern Africa. See the blogs Namaqualand 2010, Richtersveld 2010 & Madagascar 2010 for more information on previous expeditions. His next photo safari will be in the Namib Desert, Namibia in June-July 2011.
Paul also organizes photographic day-excursion workshops from his studio in Gordon's Bay.
In both cases, he only takes a very limited number of people (max 4-6 people) as his philosophy is primarily based on connecting with the natural environment.
Paul enjoys teaching and helping people to increase their understanding and grow their talent. This is why he home-schools his children, Enya & James, together with his partner Petra. Paul teaches patience. He teaches how to think visually and connect with the natural subject and its environment.
"I was totally surprised that there was no camera in sight while we were walking around the fynbos garden for several hours. Photography with Paul is a holistic experience. In the week I spent with him I learnt to see, to be aware, to connect with nature and ultimately, with myself. My snapshots have become fine art photography and I have become a more fulfilled person." Prof Alvaro Viljoen, leading plant scientists in South Africa.
Prof Viljoen was enrolled in a macro-photography workshop with Paul and is since the proud photographer of some extraordinary flower images (read Alvaro's full testimonial with stunning photos).
Paul's workshops do not focus on hardware and software, although any photographer should master these tools. His workshops focus primarily on how to tune your mind into your subject and how to open your heart and soul to become one with it.
Photography is a marriage between art and sciences, you will learn to create artistically, to think analytically and to master the techniques, including the camera.
Within two days with Paul, you will start perceiving the world around you differently.
"Paul has a classic (i.e. film) background and the way he approaches taking a photo is reflected in that. Despite using a Digital Camera he plans and takes care with every photo that he takes." - Gronum Smith, engineer
Although Gronum is an engineer, he has a huge sensitivity and a very good eye. He travelled with Paul in Madagascar and became very good friends (read Gronum's full testimonial).
Paul's bespoke photo workshops focus only on nature : landscapes, seascapes, manscapes (fields), flora, fauna and nature abstracts around Southern Africa. If you would like to join Paul on one of his photographic safaris or workshops, send a portfolio of 8-12 images and explain your motivation, and more importantly how you want to grow your photography. | |
