ITINERARY - PHOTO SAFARI NAMIBIA 2011

Here is the final itinerary for this inspirational photo safari in the Namib desert from 24 June until 11 July 2011.

Itinerary - 3500 Km - 18 days

Cape Town - border ZA-NA (1 n) - Keetmanshoop (1 n - quiver trees) - Luderitz (3 n - ferral horses - ghost towns - Kolmanskop, Elisabeth Bay, Pomona & Bogenfels) - Tirasberg (1 n - Namtib Biosphere Reserve) - Namib Rand (1 n - game drive) - Sessriem (3 n - sand dunes - dead vlei - canyon - Sossusvlei - [hot air balloon]) + (2 n - petrified dunes) - Spitzkoppe (3 n - rock formations - welwitchia - vista) - Walvis Bay (5 n - Sandwich Bay - desert tour - seascapes - [scenic flight]) .

  • drive North on N7 to the border ZA-NA (710 km)

Day 1 - 02/07

  • depart from Noordoewer Guesthouse early morning
  • drive North-East to Keetmanshoop along Fish River canyon (310 Km)
  • photo quiver trees in afternoon & at sunset
  • camp at Garas Quiver Tree Park

Day 2 - 03/07

  • drive West on B4 to Auss (225 Km)
  • pique-nique & photo of feral horses in afternoon until sunset
  • drive West on B4 to Luderitz (125 Km)
  • stay at Luderitz Nest Hotel on the bay

Day 3 - 04/07

  • full-day excursion with Coastways Tours Luderitz (140 km)
  • drive South to Elisabeth Bay, Pomona & Bogenfels ghost towns

  • stay at Luderitz Nest Hotel

Day 4 - 05/07

  • photo Kolmanskop ghost town (morning)
  • drive East on B4 to Auss then North on C13 & D707 to Kumbis farm (240 Km)
  • photo of Namib desert & spectacular vista around the farm until sunset
  • camp at Namtib Lodge

Day 5 - 06/07

  • morning walk, explore Titasberg mountains & Namtib Biosphere Reserve
  • short drive North on D707 & C27 to Namib Rand (120 km)
  • afternoon game drive & photo until sunset
  • stay at Drifter's Lodge

Namibia is a photographer's paradise at the moment. It always is and never disappoints.  Have just returned from a trip. On our return the Swakoprivier and Kuiseb was still in flood .   The whole country is a celebration of colour.  By June July the grass will no longer be green but gold.  Sossusvlei still has some water in it and the dunes are covered in grass.  Namibrand Nature Reserve has an abundance of wildlife.
Will be returning again in June/July.  Can't get enough!

NO!   I dot even want to look at the photos on this page.  I wish I could go (but sometimes one has to work .. until one can be free or at least free enough). Next time maybe.
Whoever joins Paul.. Enjoy !!!  It will be wonderful.
